How do people debate without debating?
The members of the German federal parliament decided yesterday, that they do not have to give their speeches anymore. They can now submit them on paper “for the record”.

What used to be the exception, now became the rule. And the “debate” about the new rule was …… non-existent. The politicians had filed their statements on paper for the record.

Germans are used already to see their parliament half to completely empty during debates.

One can now expect German politicians to show up even less. And since they loose some small amount of money for not showing up, the politicians surely will raise their compensation soon.
